Through the course of the game, you come across new golems to take with you and many different golem bodies to use - Magicians, Priests, Ninjas, Samurai, Shaman, and Knights, to name a few. Like standard RPG characters, golems have to build up their basic attributes (hit points, magic points, offensive and defensive power, and so forth), but they also take on new bodies for new skills, and they have the ability to carry two subbodies! Guardian War plays more like a strategic, up-dose-and-personal war game than a conventional RPG.

Guardian War is one of the most original, enjoyable, and addictive RPG/strategy games to come along in a while, and it's certainly the best on the 3DO so far. While Ice is over there pushing all of 2 buttons, you're constantly going through a carefully timed rotation as to make sure you're keeping your PIs and precision buff up. If you care about damage and wanting to see your name up near the top, it's ALOT of work. She kills everything so easily that you and the person you're in the duo with are merely along for the ride. In the newest duo, she makes everything look like you're in a T1 duo. I have my rotation but the most important thing is keeping her alive and powered. I use DW WM (Hold Right Mouse, Hold Right Mouse) and with the Reinforce buff, I crit for maybe 15k sometimes but Crystal is doing 30-50k damage consistently. She IS the reason Earth does the damage it does. But I digress, that's not what we're talking about.Ĭrystal IS OP. Earth tanking was never the best but you could get through end game content if you were skilled. Earth in general has always been just an average power. Crystal wasn't very popular back then.Earth DPS was just terrible all around. I did it however long ago T4 was (3 years ago?) when she was nothing more then a minor annoyance to adds and bosses and there was no WM or AM. It is fair to say that you can level to 30 without using Crystal. The pet is not overpowered for new players and post 30 solo content still requires the player to utilized their non pet ams and WMĪny threads about Earth I usually skim over for any new info that I may not know about as I use it and it's my favorite power. The pet although an Asset doesnt dominate the powers damage output against the bosses meaning a player cant necessarily be carried by the pet in tier 1 and tier 3 content.Ī. I also followed up with my progress tier 1 and tier 2. This means the pet isnt giving low level players any more advantage over other powers. content the Player can clearly do without the pet as i myself in my horrible dps ability was able to advance fine to that level without the pet. The initial post was the the pet was overpowered for content. I think it forces me to keep working on those base mechanic more than I would otherwise. To this point I havent really invested in any supercharged powers but the heal from seismic power set. not because of anything in the tutorial but the lack of a necessity to use them when you have a pet or a nuke you can power up with or a can of soders. I think veritechs post demonstrates the effectiveness of basic mechanics that new players like myself would overlook.
I would be happy to see your feedback on comparisons to the other powers that I assume your well versed in. However if you want to make a bow acrobat earth toon and refrain from using the pet. JP thanks for offering to participate but I believe Ver proved his point and he seems like a guy with integrity who wouldnt use base amenities or anything so i am happy with his results.

Still need to upgrade my bow from level 30. However On boss and miniboss encounters I was able to outdps the pet with Jackhammer and Explosive Arrow. I was able to get competitive with the pet on trash (although its epicenter and shurikens still accounted for 60% percent of the damage.
